Ideal Podcast LengthThe magic podcast length is 20 minutes. Beyond that, your listeners will tune-out. That's according to Tim and Emile Bourquin in Episode 43 of The Podcast Brothers, a weekly show on the business side of podcasting and portable media. They did a test and found out that at the 20th minute, they started losing listeners. At the 40th minute, practically every listener clicked on the stop button, so to speak. In Episode 43 (Dec 9, 2005), they also talk about single versus multiple product ad placement. I like the way they get different podcasters to introduce their show. In the process, those announcers get to promote their podcasts also. For example, the intro of Episode 43 is delivered by Scott Fletcher of PodCheck.com (Scott makes effective use of the podcast mic; not overly DJ-ish, just the right amount of audio personality) (I'm tempted to suggest Pinoy podcasters try getting other Pinoy podcasters to introduce one another's shows. Perhaps next time when there are more Pinoy podcasts.) Previous Entry Secondthoughts Index Next Entry
