Windows XP and the New IE Hole

If you're using Windows XP and Internet Explorer 6.0, please consider using another web browser.

In Paul Roberts' Microsoft Investigating New IE Hole, you'll read about how your Windows XP computer can be attacked even if you already have Service Pack 2 installed.

Imagine, you surf to some malicious web site using Internet Explorer 6, and some attack code can automatically launch. Silently. Without your knowing it. No clues, no crashes, not even a flicker on your monitor.

Changing the Internet Explorer security settings will not stop attack code from executing on affected systems and firewall and host intrusion detection products that Ferris tested did not detect the exploit, he (Tom Ferris, the independent researcher who found the vulnerability) said.

In the meantime, please use another web browser: Firefox @ Mozilla.org

(Perhaps I'll connect a Win98 machine to the internet and keep my WinXP offline?)
