Make Money By Giving Away E-Books?

It might sound strange, but some people can make money by giving away e-books or electronic versions of their thoughts, articles, and how-to information.

Saw a link to Seth Godin's "Thinking About Digital Media" from David Rothman.

Quick Summary: Printed books outsell e-books. But people will get more copies of a free e-book than a for-a-fee printed book.

So how does that make you more money? Godin says more people will want to interact with you.

I've tried giving away free ebooks in the past. The result? More traffic to this web site. More money? Hmmm. Perhaps for a few merienda treats. It really depends on what your ebook is about, and the kind of market your e-book attracts.
