54th PALANCA AWARDS OPEN

The Carlos Palanca Foundation is now accepting entries for the 54th Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature.

Categories open in English and Filipino divisions are: full-length play, poetry, essay, one-act play, short story for children, short story and futuristic fiction. The teleplay and screenplay categories are only open in the Filipino division. The short story category is also open in Hiligaynon, Iluko, and Cebuano divisions.

A special youth category is the Kabataan Essay, which is open to all youth below 18 years of age. This year's theme is "If I Were President of the Philippines" for the English division and "Kung Ako Ay Presidente ng Pilipinas" for the Filipino division.

Deadline for submission of entries is midnight of April 30, 2004. Entries sent by mail should be postmarked not later than April 15, 2004.
