Ondoy and I
One Wednesday or Thursday morning, after Typhoon Ondoy hit Metro Manila on September 26, 2009, our family's gardener, Mang J greeted me with his usual: "Good morning, Ma'am," with a smile. He did not report for work the Saturday before so I asked: "Kumusta kayo?" (How are you?)
One of my daughter's doctors texted to inform us that PGH is requesting for breast milk donations for pasteurization. This will be distributed to babies who have been affected by Typhoon Ondoy.

Typhoon Ondoy has affected so many Filipinos. Now is the time to help in whatever way you can.

St. Pedro Poveda College: is accepting donations until Saturday, October 3, 2009.
I think I never saw as much rainfall in my whole lifetime as yesterday. Where were you on September 26, 2009 when the Philippines was battered by Typhoon Ondoy?

One for the Books
I never thought life could get this busy. The past few weeks have been packed and the coming days full that when I get home, all I want to do is help the kids with schoolwork and go to sleep. My schedule has taken its toll on my blogging and writing life and although am surviving, am not exactly that happy.

Ilocos Norte Trip
In April 2009 of this year, our family went to Ilocos Norte (yup, just Ilocos Norte - Ilocos Sur and Pagudpud are reserved for other times) for our annual vacation. My kids don't like long road trips (actually, my husband and I don't too as we feel you save time and are less tired when you fly) so we took a Cebu Pacific flight to and from Laoag.

Do you already know whom you will be voting for as president of the Philippines in the upcoming 2010 elections? I don't. I only know whom I will not be voting for. That is usually easier.
She was the only candidate for president whom I had voted for who eventually went on to become president of the Philippines. Mrs. Corazon Cojuangco Aquino, fondly known as Tita Cory, passed away on August 1, 2009, at 3:18 am at the Makati Medical Center.

Happy First Birthday to Mom's A Stewardess, the Book!
July 9 may be an ordinary day for most people but today is a very memorable day for me. July 9, 2008 was the day we launched my book Mom's A Stewardess -- Or Why There is No Vacation from Your Vocation (Stories of Stewardship), published by Claretian Publications.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has already stated that Influenza A (H1N1) has already reached the pandemic level. In our household, the swine flu has already resulted in the postponement of the start of classes for both my children.

Of Viral Illnesses
Disclaimer: I am not a medical doctor and if you or anyone in your family does not feel healthy, please consult your doctor. This blog post is meant to just share and record my personal experience so that I may remember what the doctors told me (in my particular case).

When people get sick, more often that not, it is caused by a virus. We usually recover from mild or regular viral illnesses by resting, taking lots of fluids, and managing our body temperature by taking something like paracetamol. From my family's personal experience and discussions with our doctors, there is really nothing else that one can take for a viral illness (nothing really cures it) and it may take anywhere from 3 to 7 (or even 10?) to run its course.
